Vedic literature talks about the human consciousness in a wider perspectives. It has the explanation of four states of consciousness including Turiya, though this is not a perceivable state and beyond our compression. Four Antakaranas (four facets of mind) are well described in the ancient literature. From the perspective of Yoga, though mind and its modification has been dealt extensively but gold standard research lacks in this direction
