GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTOR(S)

IJFES publishes new experimental, observational, or computational methods, or tests/procedures in basic, translational or applied research relating to any of the subject areas aligned with the Financial, Economic and Social Sciences.

New study methods, substantive modifications to existing methods or innovative applications of existing methods to new models or research questions are all encouraged, and we welcome technical articles that describe tools that facilitate the design or performance of experiments, provide data analysis features or assist business, socio-economic development.

The peer review focuses on whether the paper has academic merit and whether adequate detail has been provided to enable others to reproduce and use the method.

Language

All articles must be written in American english. Please note that the article will not undergo editing by IJFES before publication and a manuscript may be rejected during the initial checking process if it is deemed unintelligible and hence not suitable for peer review.

Use of inclusive language and Ethics

We encourage all authors to choose language that is inclusive and respectful. Submissions should not contain anything that might imply that one individual is superior to another on the grounds of race, gender, culture, sexuality, or any other characteristic, and inclusive language should be used throughout. Authors should ensure that writing is free from bias, for instance by using ‘he or she’, ‘his or hers’, ‘him or her’, or the singular gender-neutral ‘they, theirs or them’. No authors should submit any paper that is submitted for review or publication in any other journal nor the paper should be a replica of yours previous paper or any others paper(s).

Abstract

Abstracts should be maximum 300 words long thatprovides a succinct summary of the article. Although the abstract should explain why the article might be interesting, the importance of the work should not be over-emphasized. Citations should not be used in the abstract. Abbreviations, if needed, should be spelled out. For original research, we suggest that (if applicable) abstracts are structured into Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.

Keywords

Authors should supply up to six relevant keywords that describe the subject of their article. These will improve the visibility of your article.

JEL Classification

The "JEL" classification system originated with the Journal of Economic Literature and is a standard method of classifying scholarly literature in the field of social science research.

Main Body

The format of the main body of the article is flexible: it should be concise, making it easy to read and review, and presented in a format that is appropriate for the type of study presented.

For most Method Articles, the following standard format will be the most appropriate:

  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
    • Method Articles should include a Results section with results of validation, and all associated data should be provided
    • If full method validation has not been performed, a Use Cases section should be included with a description of how the method has been previously implemented
    • If the method has not been validated or previously implemented, authors should include a statement describing how the method is expected to be implemented by the research community, what value the method will add to the field and the expected value of peer review
  • Conclusions/Discussion

Method articles in some areas of research, e.g. education, social sciences or economics, may benefit from a different structure, in which case a more flexible format is possible as long as the authors ensure that they describe their methods and sources in sufficient detail for others to be able to repeat the research.
