Prof. Manoranjan Parida was Deputy Director at IIT Roorkee before joining CSIR-CRRI. He has been MoRTH Chair Professor on Development of Highway System in India at IIT Roorkee during 2013-2017. He has worked on an Imprint Research Project “Propagation and Mitigation Model of Mixed Traffic Noise for Planning Mid Sized Indian Cities”. Design and Development of Noise Barrier for Flyovers in Delhi is an innovative contribution by him. He has provided substantial inputs for third party quality audit of 1700 km. of State Highway in the State of Bihar (during 2007-2013) under the RSVY Project. He has provided consultancy for more than 350 urban road infrastructure projects, intercity corridors, rural roads, and expressways. He received Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award in the year 2004 from Indian Road Congress. He has received the Outstanding Teacher Award of IIT Roorkee. He is presently Convener of Urban Roads & Streets Committee(H-8) of Indian Roads Congress, New Delhi.

Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Head of the Teaching Learning Center at IITM. He received the B. Tech and accelerated PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), in 1983 and 1989, respectively. He has held visiting research / teaching assignments at several US universities, namely, University of California, Santa Barbara; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York; and University of South Carolina, Columbia, USA. He has authored numerous articles in journals, conferences and books, and has been awarded three patents in the areas of semiconductor device modeling and process development. His recent work is on modeling and simulation of power devices, nano-devices, GaN HEMTs and solar cells. He has received the 2006 Vikram Sarabhai Award for research, 2007 IBM Faculty Award for research and teaching, 2021 VLSI Society of India Best Faculty Award for "contributions in the area of teaching, popularizing and creating some of the best minds in Microelectronics in the last 30 years," and the president’s nomination to the IIT Council for “contributions in education, science or technology”. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Trans. on Education (first ever from India). He has acted as a consultant to industries for developing manufacturing processes for semiconductor devices. His contributions in the field of education include three widely viewed online video courses on Solid State Devices, Semiconductor Device Modeling and Introduction to Research (see links below). The latter is a lecture-cum-activity oriented course to foster research skills among research scholars. He initiated this as a compulsory course for all research scholars in IITM and has conducted over 30 workshops country-wide. He has also conducted solely or jointly over 80 Faculty Development sessions on various aspects of “How teachers can make a difference” in institutions including IITs, IISERs, NITs, and IIIT. He is a member of the Governing Council of CeNS (Center for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences). He was a member of the National Working Group on Nanotechnology set up by the Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India. He is a member of the executive committee of AICTE and the Chairman of AICTE’s All India Board of PG Education and Research. He was a member of the All India Board of Undergraduate Studies of the AICTE. He was the Vice-Chairman of JEE 2006 and Chairman of JEE 2007 operations in the South Zone. He is a strong espouser of holistic education, and a multilingual – can read, write and speak – Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, and can converse in – Thelugu, Thamizh and to an extent, Sanskrit.

He is the principal investigator for research projects funded by CSIR, SERB, SERB (IMPRINT), and DST. He has industrial consultancy experience in the areas of solar thermal energy and thermal systems. He has two copyrights to his credit and has published six patents. He has authored 4 full books (titles: Thermal Polygeneration, Flexible Kalina Cycle Systems, Thermal Cycles of Heat Recovery Power Plants, and Desalination and Cooling Integration), 15 book chapters, 125 journal publications, and 90 conference proceedings. His current areas of research are solar thermal energy and poly-generation. He has supervised five Ph.D. students, 40 M. Tech thesis, and 45 UG projects. He also has industrial experience of 4 years in the machine tool industry. He serves on the editorial boards of the journals Recent Innovations in Chemical Engineering and Applied Solar Energy (Springer). For teaching excellence, he received the best teacher award in 2021 at NIT Jalandhar.

I have executed several R&D Projects in the area of Entrepreneurship and Microfinance funded by DST, ICSSR and UGC, GOI along with Consultancy Projects in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility and Issues in Rehabilitation for Coal India. I have also conducted several FDPs in the area of Entrepreneurship funded by DST, GOI and EDP and MDP on Project and Financial Management funded by various industrial organizations. I have also guided several Ph.D.in the area of Intellectual Capital, Behavioural Finance, Sustainability Reporting, Entrepreneurship and Corporate Governance. The focus of my work has been in identifying the framework of entrepreneurial success in India, analyzing the impact of behavioural factors in influencing financial markets, exploring the role of corporate governance in enhancing financial performance, issues and challenges in sustainability reporting and developing models for investigating the role of intellectual capital in maximizing financial and operational performance.
